In The Dance Presents Beats For Eats

A rave with a difference. The ticket isn't money, it's a food donation on the door. 

On 30 October, In the Dance brings Gloucester a first of its kind event. Attendees can turn up with a long-life food donation for Gloucester Foodbank and that's their entry. One tin, one bag of pasta, one night of dancing. It’s that simple. 

Inside, expect Garage, Drum & Bass, Dubstep and more, all under one roof, celebrating the sound Gloucester has been missing. 

Who's on: 

Donovan 'Bad Boy' Smith headlines, a genuine local legend and unsung pioneer of the UK's early rave scene. He cut his teeth in the underground warehouse movement of the late '80s and early '90s, helping push emerging street sounds into British club culture. 

Joining him is Mattik, Gloucester raised, now a fixture of the Manchester scene. His UKG productions have landed on respected labels and taken him touring through Japan, Australia and Thailand, along with sets at Boomtown and Outlook Festival. 

Support comes from Big Sis DJs, the emerging collective and educational platform championing the next generation of women in dance music; GRIZ-O, one of the county's most respected MCs; and MISSKIKI, an exciting new talent known for her stage energy and love of genre hopping. 

The lineup will be matched by a visual show paying homage to Gloucester and the electronic music that shaped it. 

Why this event exists: 

The cost-of-living crisis has hit Gloucester hard and Gloucester Foodbank is under real pressure to keep up with demand. At the same time, the local dance music scene has faced closed venues, shrinking opportunities and a culture that's been quietly fading. 

In the Dance is bringing those stories together: filling Gloucester Foodbank's shelves while filling the dancefloor.
