News Story

After more than 30 toe-tapping years of the incredible Gloucester Cajun & Zydeco Festival, it's time to look at what this festival could look like in the years ahead.

To do this, we will be taking a break from the festival in 2027. This break will give the team time to develop the future shape of the festival and its programme.

Over the next year we will talk to artists and our audiences (you!) about how these incredible genres can be best showcased by Gloucester Guildhall. We want to consider how programming throughout the year might work and how we evolve the festival so we can introduce the genre to new fans.

As Gloucester's festival landscape has developed, with the arrival of the Folk Trail that we're proudly part of, and the embedding of folk and roots music into our year-round programme, it's now the right time to take a moment to find the best new path for celebrating Cajun & Zydeco music in the city.

We know that this beloved festival has a huge number of fans, and it will be disappointing that it’s taking a break. However, while the festival might not be happening, we still want to channel your love of this event and hear from you about what you'd like to see in the future.

So, to kick this off, we've developed a short survey so you can share your favourite memories of the festival over the years, and your ideas for how we can get more people enthused about the genres, and what you'd like to see on the stage in future years. Click the button below to contribute!

Thank you so much for all your support of this festival. We can't wait to see how it develops!
