Gloucester, Are You Ready to Rave?
Rhythm of the 90s are gearing up to bring their full‑throttle 90s dance party to Gloucester Guildhall for the very first time - and the wait is finally over. Known for transforming venues into euphoric, glow‑stick‑fuelled throwback raves, the seven‑piece band have become one of the UK’s most in‑demand live acts, celebrated for their explosive energy and pitch‑perfect takes on the decade’s biggest dance anthems.
Ahead of their long‑awaited Guildhall debut, we caught up with the band to talk nostalgia, crowd chaos, and why this show is set to be one of their most electric nights yet.

Why do you think 90s dance anthems still hit so hard with audiences today?
90s dance music is just the perfect mix of pop type vocal hooks, massive synth melodies and pumping kick drums that just makes you want to sing along and dance. But also it’s happy music through and through, it puts a huge smile on your face, at least it does for us! If you were there in the 90s you have the added plus of the nostalgia the music brings, and if you are just discovering 90s dance you can’t help but fall in love with it’s charm!
You’ve played Glastonbury, Victorious Main Stage, Latitude, Hamburg Pride, what makes a Rhythm of the 90s show stand out from everything else on the festival circuit?
We take huge dance anthems and play them fully live so you’re getting the very best dance music from the 90s but with the energy of a live band. You’re hearing the songs you know and love but like you’ve never heard them before. We also blend and remix loads of the songs in our set. We might take the vocal from one song and sing it over another, then we’ll transition that song into another, kind of like a DJ might do, but it’s all fully live.
Do you have a favorite moment in the show - that point where you know the room is about to erupt?
There are so many moments in our nearly 2 hour set that people might love, there’s so many huge drops! But the one that we’d say is guaranteed to get everyone jumping is Insomnia by Faithless.
How do you keep the energy so high for a full set of 90s bangers?
I think the music is just so good, it’s hard not to bring the energy when you’re playing those songs. But really it’s our audiences who bring the energy and we very much feel that from the stage, it’s definitely a two way street. We feed off our audiences' love of 90s dance music, especially when it matches ours.
You’ve played some massive stages. What’s a standout memory from a festival that still makes you laugh or smile?
Do we really have to pick just one?! There are so so many! If you’ll allow us a couple then it’d have to be the first time we played Glastonbury, it’s such a special festival and then the year we played the main stage at Victorious Festival. It blows our minds that we played to that many people!

Rhythm of the 90s has grown into a seven-piece powerhouse. How did the band evolve into what it is today?
We’ve always been a seven-piece band, from the very start. We knew we had to have the variety and depth of instrumentation in the band to faithfully recreate the sounds from the era of dance music. These songs very rarely got performed fully live back in the day by the original artists so we really had our work cut out to do them justice and try to make them sound like the originals.
Gloucester audiences are famously up for a party. What kind of night are you hoping for here?
We’re super excited to be returning to Gloucester, we had such an amazing time last time we were hear and we can’t wait to party with everyone again. We’re obviously just really hopeful that it’s a night full of joy and love for dance music.
Can fans expect anything special or unique from this Guildhall performance?
The whole evening is unique. Where else could you see these banging tunes played by a fully live band?
What’s the wildest crowd reaction you’ve ever had to a 90s anthem?
Glasto was so packed one year that we had someone pull the side of the tent open to get in. We also witnessed a gang of lads being chased by police at an Irish festival, but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t anything to do with us.
Have you ever had a moment on stage where you thought, “This is why we do this”?
Honestly (and this might just seem like a cop out answer) but at the end of every show, our audiences are super generous with showing us and telling us how much they love the show, we’re reminded of why we do it every time. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces, hearing about how certain tracks take them right back to a time or place is so great. Nostalgia is a powerful thing and our show is rammed full of it.
