Sunset Boulevard - 75th Anniversary in 4K (12A)

Tinseltown’s greatest self-satire, Billy Wilder’s Oscar-winning masterpiece Sunset Boulevard returns in a meticulous 4k restoration for its 75th anniversary.

Narrated in flashback by the corpse of luckless screenwriter Joe Gillis (William Holden) floating facedown in an LA swimming pool, Wilder’s brutal study of the Hollywood dream factory cruelly casts faded silent film star Gloria Swanson as has-been Norma Desmond. Festering in her mansion and daydreaming of a comeback, Desmond insists, “I’m still big! It’s the pictures that got small.”

Also featuring other real-life giants of silent cinema, Erich von Stroheim, Cecil B. DeMille and Buster Keaton, Wilder’s audacious classic retains all its bite and power.
