Melodies in Slow Motion harmonises Soumik’s band with the sounds of forests being razed and voices from marginalized communities around the globe, all pulsing with deep drones and harmonic tension.

 At the heart of it is Soumik’s sarod (a nineteen stringed lute), complemented by the rich textures of carnatic violin, mridangam, and tabla beats. Soumik Datta is an award-winning sarod musician and composer. He blends ambient soundscapes, spoken word, and Indian classical roots to create an experience that is both emotive and immersive.

This latest project weaves together five years of his exploration into memory, migration and the climate crisis, through partnerships with Alzheimer’s Society, University College of London Psychology Division, Choose Love and Earth Day Network.
