Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Going Clear) directs this deeply intimate film inspired by Rushdie’s bestselling memoir and featuring never-before-seen footage shot by Rushdie’s wife Rachel Eliza Griffiths. A graphic, unflinching and intelligent account, it follows Rushdie’s rehabilitation and his continuing struggle for freedom of expression, exploring the fallout from this terrifying attack and the fatwa he lived under for decades following the publication of The Satanic Verses.
