October's Comedians

Stephen Owen

Stephen Owen is a comedian, comedy impressionist, after-dinner speaker and former Metropolitan Police homicide detective with over 40 years in show business.

Combining razor-sharp celebrity impressions, quick-fire crowd work and expertly crafted stand-up, Stephen has become a favourite at comedy clubs, corporate events and sports dinners across the UK.

A British Comedian of the Year finalist (2025), Stephen has appeared alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, sport and variety.

His extraordinary life story — balancing a 30-year career investigating murder and complex crime while performing comedy nationwide, before surviving severe acute pancreatitis and multiple organ failure — inspired his acclaimed one-man show Endangered Species.

Warm, engaging and effortlessly funny, Stephen Owen delivers pitch-perfect impressions, storytelling and stand-up from a life less ordinary.

Bethany Black

Critically acclaimed stand-up Bethany Black is a stalwart of the scene and can be seen performing up and down the country, as "one of the UK circuit's finest night-time raconteurs" (British Comedy Guide).

Also an applauded writer and actor, you may recognise Bethany from her roles in Cucumber, Banana, Tofu (C4), No Offense (C4) and Doctor Who (BBC), or from her radio work where she's appeared on Sarah Millican's Elephant In The Room, Rosie Jones' Box Ticker, and The News Quiz for Radio 4. Winner of the Joe.co.uk comedy award 2020 and Best New Show at The Leicester Comedy Festival in 2023. She has written for Frankie Boyle's New World Order (BBC) as well as several shows for Rosie Jones, and also Joe Lycett (C4) whom she also supported on his last sell out tour.
