About Everybody to Kenmure Street (12A)
Winner of the Special Jury Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival, this tremendously energising documentary takes us inside an extraordinary act of community resistance.
On 13 May 2021, the Home Office staged a dawn raid on Kenmure Street in Pollokshields. Glasgow-based documentarian Felipe Bustos Sierra (Nae Pasaran) brings us to street level to show what happened next, recreating the spontaneous act of civil resistance that sprang up as the multicultural community came together on a shared mission to stop their neighbours’ deportation.
Blending crowd-sourced footage with a clever re-enactment featuring verbatim testimony from those who were there, Everybody to Kenmure Street celebrates the eight-hour stand-off that demonstrated the power of peaceful solidarity and those who joined the call to protest.
