A mesmerising performance by Alma Pöysti gives vivid life to Finnish artist and writer Tove Jansson, creator of the internationally beloved Moomin stories, in this emotional biopic directed by Zaida Bergroth. 

Covering a decade or so of Jansson’s life from the mid-1940s on, Tove follows Jansson as she falls in love with a woman for the first time and as her idle creature doodles on spare scraps of paper turn into stories, then books, then a worldwide sensation. Capturing a complex, quicksilver, pleasure-seeking artist who couldn’t help but be blazingly herself, it’s a moving look at the person behind one of children's literature's most adored creations.
