Underground Festival 2019

UG LINE UP DRAFT SQUARE.jpg

Gloucester Guildhall’s annual celebration of new music returns on Saturday 26th October.

Filled with 22 bands, the 1 day multi-venue festival will feature sets from Honeyblood, Dream State, Orchards and more, across 3 city centre venues - Gloucester Guildhall, Gloucester Blackfriars and The Cavern.

Having previously hosted the likes of BastilleLower Than Atlantis, Peace and George Ezra, the festival has a history of spotlighting the best of the Underground music scene. The 2019 line up boasts the best from indie/rock, pop-punk, folk, Alternative Soul and electronic music.

This year Underground Festival is offering locals more than just a full day of exciting new music, with the addition of a mini music conference to be held at the Guildhall’s Cinema.

Local musicians, songwriters and aspiring music managers can attend an afternoon of panels and presentations designed to offer valuable insight to the performing and working in the music industry.

Presented with BBC Introducing and PRS for Music, the talks will host music industry professionals such as A&R, National Promoters, rights agencies and artists for a in depth look at building a career in the industry. Musicians in particular can expect to pick up valuable tips and advice for promoting their music and developing their band.

You can expect talks & tips from a variety of music industry pros . We'll have national promoters talking about how to get better gigs and start touring. We'll have artist insight on how to build a fanbase through youtube and manage your content. We'll take a look at the importance of playlisting and how best to push your songs to radio. How bands can better manage their social media, and make your songs appeal to sync companies for TV placement. To finish the day we'll have a special guest talk from PRS for Music on how you can better protect your songs, and  begin collecting royalties on your writing and performing.

Full schedule & list of guest panellists to be announced

FAQs

Do we really need a ticket if it's free?
In short, yes. Although the event is free entry, we have a limited number of spaces available. A ticket helps us to control capacities at the venues, meaning for a much safer event. It also helps us understand who is interested in these shows, and hopefully gain some valuable feedback on how to make improvements in future years.

What’s the deal with the talks?
As part of this year’s festival we’re offering aspiring artists, songwriters, music managers and live agents the opportunity to learn from professionals working in the industry. Pick up tips and advice on how to handle your social media game, learn how to appeal to festivals and promoters or discover how you can become a songwriter, or get your songs on TV.
