Finding Space by Thomas Penny

Finding Space is a series of semi-abstract paintings exploring the balance between shape and the negative space it creates. In this body of work Thomas Penny constructs balanced compositions using amorphous, organic shapes, and hard, artificial lines inspired by nature, architecture and graphic design.

A local artist, based in the Forest of Dean, Thomas attended college and university in Gloucester and Cheltenham. Thomas is primarily self-taught, and exploration is a major component of his work.

This exploration has led to the use of printer ink in this exhibition, as well as work using materials such as Lego, and repurposed fabrics.
