Gloucester Guildhall is a beautiful Grade II listed building suitable for private events, meetings, conferences, parties, workshops and much more!

We pride ourselves on delivering a variety of bespoke events to the highest standard. We have a dedicated team to bring your event to life along with delicious in-house catering. With spaces ranging in capacity from 6 to 400, everything you need for an unforgettable event is right here at Gloucester Guildhall.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We have a range of spaces available to hire at the Guildhall. Our largest space is the Hall which can seat up to 280 in a theatre layout or 120 banquet style.   • Yes, we have a range of furniture options available, and all furniture will be set up and ready for your arrival.

    If you would like alternative furniture for your event, we can hire this in for an additional cost. For events seated in a banquet style, table coverings are recommended and are charged at an additional £5+ VAT per table. If you would rather provide your own coverings, then this is no problem at all.

    Please note: You will be asked well in advance to discuss the layout for your event and your particular requirements. If nearer the date you wish to amend these arrangements, we will do everything we can to accommodate you but there may be instances where, if left too late, we are unable to do this.

  • All spaces can be hired by the hour in full hour periods only*

    *Our main Hall space is the exception to the above and has a minimum hire period of 4 hours weekdays or 5 hours Friday evenings and weekends.

    Access to your space is from the time that you have requested on your booking form. We advise customers to include time before the event to setup decorations, marketing material, sound checks etc and time after the event to pack down. If, on the day your event overruns, an invoice for the additional time will be issued after the event.

  • Unfortunately, we do not offer any charity discounts.

  • Parking is available nearby at Kings Walk multi-storey car park and there is direct access to the Guildhall via level 3. For more information and pricing please visit the following link:

    We do not have any free private off-road parking.  

    As we are situated in the city centre, we a very accessible for anyone travelling on public transport.

    Gloucester Bus Station is located behind the Guildhall, on the other side of Kings Square, and is a 5-minute walk from the venue. National Express and other coach and bus companies drop off at the bus station. Local buses drop off in Brunswick Road and Clarence Street, both of which are a 5-minute walk from the venue.

    The train station is also located to the rear of the building, across the road from the bus station, and is a 10-minute walk from the venue.

  • Our venue is fully accessible with all levels having access via the lift.

    Wheelchair access is available to the Guildhall Box Office, Cinema, Theatre, Galleries, Cafe Bar, and Toilets from the lift at our Eastgate Street entrance and via the entrance from Kings Walk car park.

    There are also Accessible parking spaces and ramp access via our Kings Walk Car Park entrance on outside parking area of level 3. It is also possible to drive to the Eastgate entrance for evening drop off.

    Assistance Dogs are welcome.

    For new visitors we offer Access Maps with pictures and information for customers and performers who are new to the venue or who would like to see around in advance.

    If you require special seating for your event for better access (chairs with arms) then please discuss any requirements with your room hires coordinator.

  • Yes, Gloucester Guildhall has a refreshments and catering menu including tea, coffee, biscuits, and cake, as well as a range of buffet style catering options.

    Please ask your events coordinator for more details of choices available.

  • Hirers are not permitted to bring their own refreshments or food onsite. This must be provided by the venue, or by one of our approved external caterers (larger seated functions only).

  • Yes, Gloucester Guildhall Bar and Café is located on level 2 and is open from 10am Wednesdays to Saturdays. For evening events the bar can be opened into the main hall, please ask your event coordinator for more details.

  • No. Only Gloucester Guildhall provides the bar for events.

  • Of course! We want our spaces to be as special and personal to your event as possible.

    We do however have a few guidelines we ask to follow:

    Blu Tack must not be used on any walls at Gloucester Guildhall.

    No Helium balloons (balloon arches are fine) or confetti/glitter canons.

    No Candles (we recommend LED candles instead) or any other fire related novelty.

  • Staff will be on site after the event has finished to clear away any catering and furniture.

    All belongings and decorations must be taken away with you at the end of the event. If you have any special requirements and would prefer to return the next day to collect your belongings, please discuss this with the duty manager who will investigate whether this will be possible.

    Please note that while we do all we can to be as accommodating as possible, we may not be able to authorise belongings to be left after the event. Customers leave possessions onsite unattended at their own risk.

  • For events taking place in the Hall, customers are more than welcome to book a band or DJ to perform at their event.

    Please send the name and contact details of the band or DJ in advance so that they can be contacted. They must supply a copy of their up-to date public liability insurance and PAT testing documents for any equipment they are bringing before the date of the event.

    Please be aware that should a sound or lighting technician be required to cover the event then this would be at an additional cost.

  • We are required as part of the terms of our licence to provide security staff for events where there is a bar and dancefloor. This cost will be additional to the standard hourly rates and is dependent on the nature of the event and the number of expected guests.
