Jane Austen Wrecked My Life (15)

  • Gloucester Guildhall 23 Eastgate Street Gloucester United Kingdom (map)

Dir: Laura Piani | France | 2025 | 98 mins | Subtitled

Cast | Camille Rutherford, Pablo Pauly, Charlie Anson, Annabelle Lengronne

A witty literary rom-com, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life is a throwback to classic romance with a wry, modern sensibility.

Agathe (Camille Rutherford) works in the legendary Shakespeare & Co. bookshop in Paris. Though she dreams of becoming a successful author herself, and of a grand romance such as those invoked by her literary heroine Jane Austen, she’s plagued by writer's block and singledom. But when her best friend (Pablo Pauly) gets her an invite to the Jane Austen Writers' Residency in England, she embarks on a life-changing experience. Confronting her insecurities and her ambitions alongside her eccentric co-residents, Agathe finally gets her Jane Austen moment – and finds herself caught up in a very unexpected love triangle.
