Challengers (15)

  • Gloucester Guildhall 23 Eastgate Street Gloucester United Kingdom (map)

131 minutes

Directed by: Luca Guadagnino | USA | 2024

Cast | Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist

Zendaya (Dune, HBO’s Euphoria) and Josh O’Connor (God’s Own Country, Netflix’s The Crown) headline the sizzling new ménage à trois sports drama from Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Bones and All), scripted by playwright Justin Kuritzkes and sound-tracked by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

A tennis prodigy-turned-coach, Tashi (Zendaya) lands on a surprising strategy to bring her former champion husband Art (Mike Faist) back to form – a ‘Challenger’ match against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor) – Art’s ex-best friend, and Tashi’s former lover. As the trio reunite, memories of their youthful love triangle arise and new feelings of jealousy, lust and betrayal come to the fore. Tashi must ask herself: what will it cost her to win?

One of the most feverishly anticipated films of 2024, Challengers promises to be a punchy, sensationally watchable blend of romance, tennis and high drama, both on and off the court.
