Arcade

  • Gloucester Guildhall 23 Eastgate Street Gloucester UK (map)

Where will your choices lead you?

On Eastgate Street, in a completely dark shipping container, immerse yourself in a choose-your-own-adventure experience like no other. This isn’t any ordinary arcade and these are not ordinary arcade machines.

Step into a world inspired by 1980s video games, with 360-degree sound and sensory effects. You will be assigned an arcade machine and embark on a unique journey. In a war, which side will you choose? Will you seek out peace? Will you join a cult promising a better version of reality? Will you win or lose?

Brought to you by the “terrifyingly brilliant” (Time Out) Darkfield, world-leaders in immersive experiences, Arcade’s interactive story will ask you powerful questions about free will and consciousness, and no-one will experience the story in the same way.

Are you ready to make a choice?

What will Arcade be like?

Arcade is an XR (extended reality) experience, using 360-degree technology to create a 3D-immersive world. When you enter the Arcade container, you'll be shown to your own machine and asked to put on some headphones. The space then plunges into darkness and your adventure will begin.

Your Arcade machine enables you to navigate and respond to the sound adventure you're on. As you are asked questions, you will make choices using the buttons on the machine. Your choices determine how your story unfolds. Bring along your friends and family and compare your experiences!
